In my case, it was not my virus protector but my temporary internet files, which you can get rid of by going to Tools, Internet Options, Browsing History (in IE).

Reply:From where I sit there seems to have been a lot of problems with the internet yesterday, and over night as well. It appears to be fixed for now (at least from here) but it may take a while for the bugs to get out of the system.
