Why do people pay for AOL when they can get yahoo or gmail for free?

Paid services are no more secure, have less space, and are usually slower! I don't get it

I use paid service for security. You can have wireless service anywhere I suppose but you cannot log in wired at home with a wired computer. Any one can "sniff" what you are doing. Even with your encryption and the website's encrpyption, it would be wiser to have a wired connection. Though, it would a take very skilled person with advanced equipment to do it.
Reply:You can get free email once you are connected to an ISP or internet service provider. If you have no isp, no connection. People use AOL to connect to the internet, and also for the other 'value added service' it provides.
Reply:Because isn't that just for the mail and AOL is a complete Internet service. Like you have yahoo but with what isp.
